A page ranking is determined algorithmically according to its relevance to the search query and sometimes a user's web history and geography.

For example, if a user enters the phrase 'dry cleaners' in the search box, they will be shown results for dry cleaners in their area. If your website is about dry cleaning, and it's optimized correctly for the search engines and you are in the geographical vicinity of the searcher, your page may appear in the search results.
